Student Talks: 7/24/2020 - Key Lesson: Once we realize the only thing that makes some painful moment seem impassable is nothing more than our reluctance to assume responsibility for what that same moment has come to teach us about ourselves... we are well on our way to realizing a new order of freedom wherein all things are possible.
Student Talks: 12/22/2023 - Key Lesson: Every once in a while, we have the great fortune of perceiving a moment of such astonishing beauty, or harmony, that we all but lose ourselves within it. But what is far more amazing than any such vision is this breathtaking fact: were it not for our mysterious capacity to perfectly reflect that moment -- to be one with it in heart, mind, and soul -- there would be no beauty or harmony to behold.
Student Talks: 08/28/2026 - The divided, sleeping mind meets and measures each new moment by recollecting what it remembers about it. In this way, it never meets a moment it hasn’t already decided is good or bad, wanted or not.
Student Talks: 06/26/2026 - To identify with any experience of life, no matter how whole it makes us feel in that moment must – at some point – reveal that the “experiencer” of that moment is, in fact, apart from it.
Student Talks: 8/30/2024 - Key Lesson: We are so occupied trying to fill our lives with what we want that we can't see how all that we need is being given to us freely every moment of the day.
Student Talks: 3/28/2025 - We can be -- and often are -- sound asleep going through the motions of life with our eyes wide open. To be able to see — to be aware of - what our mind is actually looking at, experiencing, and responding to…is the first step in the process of awakening; it not only strengthens our wish to attend to the present moment, but to remember that any time our mind is unattended…it slumbers in fitful dreams, from which it cannot awaken itself.
Student Talks: 01/02/2026 - We do not become prisoners because we fail to escape some painful pattern. We become prisoners because we imagine there is a “someone” inside the pattern who must escape it. In truth, the sense of self that feels trapped is a creation of an unconscious nature struggling to escape the experience of itself. Once realized that the suffering inherent in this conflict is not yours…it no longer needs to be transcended; it's released without effort because it simply has no one left to belong to.
Student Talks: 12/20/2023 - Key Lesson: To everything there is a season, and life's great cycles of expansion and contraction -- of yes and no -- serve no individual save the one who has uncovered the secret of being in the world, but not of it.
