Student Talks: 5/31/2024 - Key Lesson: Forgiveness is not the blind acceptance of what is dark, sinful, or just plain evil; real forgiveness begins with seeing the need  to transcend our own negative reaction to whatever we summarily find as wanting in someone else. After all, whose limitation is it when the best we know how to do (with those who have hurt us) is to hate -- or otherwise resent them...

Classroom Talk: 3/31/2024 - The reason why the search for the "Truth" of oneself is called "pathless"... is because it's not taken in steps, let alone in any known direction; rather, the "journey" to authentic self-liberation is found in our endless opportunity to enter into an ever-higher order of self-understanding that -- like the light in which it is revealed -- never stops expanding. Topics covered:  For things to change, familiar reactions need to be met with something different than what you usually meet them with. You are going to have to meet the moment with something that does not repeat itself; You are going to have to change that moment as you enter into it, not after it has happened; The Divine junction is the place where the Will of Heaven touches the will of earth.

Topics covered:  "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." -- New Testament; What if you understood that there is no future in what you are identified with?; Everything about interior work comes down to seeing that you have been blind. The pearl of great price is the capacity to see life through new eyes.

Topics covered:  "Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." -- New Testament; For us evolution is imagination of the direction we need to take in order to finally be at peace. But you cannot evolve yourself. You cannot evolve into new understanding by yourself; Every true instance of evolution involves a relationship with that which asks you to give up who and what you have been.

Topics covered:  Most of us have agreed to settle for a life that is "not as bad as that other person's life."; We presently set out on a search outside of ourselves to find a life without fear, not understanding that it is all an interior matter and that we do not have to go anywhere in order to find out for ourselves; In negative imagination we struggle to make real what is already real.

Topics covered:  There is no way to see what you need to see as long as you only pursue pleasure and what makes you comfortable; Life becomes unnecessarily difficult when you try to extract a sense of self from it. Then that self's life becomes all about trying to tame the very difficulties that it creates; What you truly need is always with you, but your mind is always being misdirected away from looking in the right place.

Topics covered:  Along with resistance to an unwanted moment comes the explanation about what the moment is all about; The first reaction to an unwanted moment does not have a name. It is a natural instant of something active acting upon something that is passive. The second reaction comes when the mind gives a name to the moment; There cannot be a perceived threat without something from the past naming and explaining what the moment means.
