That strong sense of urgency -- that pressurized feeling that comes with struggling to obtain or resolve whatever is imagined as being critical to your sense of contentment -- is one of the ways the false self makes the essentially meaningless seem incredibly meaningful for as long as it's pursued.
We have an innate need to rise above ourselves, to open ourselves to higher influences... for one thing, because we understand that without higher influences, we're left to our own flu-like influences from which we don't get well, and that we are sick from following our own prescriptions! Let us work to lose our fears themselves, and not become the captive slaves of what they would have us believe must be protected; for what good is it to stand guard outside the door of any house into which thieves have already broken?...
