Work consciously to deliberately drop the names of your pains and you will also learn to let go of all the reasons you have for experiencing them.
Patience is an important, but unseen part of letting go -- not unlike learning to tolerate the small thorns that grow on the stem of a rose bud. But why would we agree to be hurt in this way? Because we know that when, at last, the new bud blossoms, its gentle fragrance proves our pain to have been worthwhile.
Being able to let go of any negative state takes place naturally as you see that the only thing binding you to it, and its misery, is your own attention.

It is our native longing to know a Limitless Life that brings us to the point of realizing that our present mind -- dominated as it is by a thought-nature -- is only capable of apprehending the limited. The real "letting go" begins with this discovery and with realizing at the same time, that this revelation is the action of an Infinite Intelligence upon its own lower levels.
