Resistance to pain is not the same as the pain being resisted. This means that resistance to suffering is useless suffering; all it creates is the illusion of a “self” that believes it has a choice whether or not to suffer in that given moment.
Putting our life in “God’s Hands” begins with handing it to Him. If there’s one thing our time on earth should have proven evident by now, it’s this: we are never going to figure out how to feel safe “once and for all” because the tools we need to realize this imagined sense of security are found only in one place: a divided, lower level of mind where whatever the nature of that freedom we desire does not exist apart from the fearful thought of a life without it.
We have yet to see the following truth, let alone realize the immensity of its implication: Whenever we identify with any negative reaction...
The “importance” of any given moment is inseparable from whatever may be the momentary sense of “self” responsible for lending it that significance...
No seed -- whether a kernel of corn, or a special talent -- can prove itself any more valuable than the sweat it takes to sow it, cultivate & nourish it until it offers up its latent Good. In much the same way, the soul is a seed; relationships are its ground; and what grows when all is properly cared for... is unconditional Love.
There is nothing better, healthier, or higher for anyone to do, each day -- in every possible way -- than to sit quietly, all by oneself, deeply engaged in the simple act of honest self-observation.
