In our conversations with others, we must learn to say what we want as clearly and kindly as possible, yet leaving no doubt as to our desire. Otherwise we learn, too late, the painful lesson that unspoken assumptions always return to bite the hand of the one who holds them.

The psychological weight of any pressing moment is the same as whatever level of importance is assigned to it by an unconscious part of us; this lower level of self looks for any situation where it can add 'a cubit to its stature' by first imagining some unmanageable burden into existence so that then... it can feel itself struggling to carry its own impossible load!...

Rushing to reach a moment of some imagined pleasure is like setting yourself on fire in anticipation of the relief you'll feel when you jump into a pool of water!...

The only solution for the suffering inherent in a mind set against itself is to (consciously) atone for it... as it's creating the very misery that's causing you to feel victimized.

Even if your best efforts - the work to be awake, and attentive to your inner life - feels as if it's failed to produce any real result... nevertheless, persist: one day a Light that is in exact proportion to your labor will flood the soul, filling it with New Life.
