A man of good -- upon seeing evil in another person -- neither judges that evil, nor its unwitting instrument because he has seen such a darkness in himself, and agrees to die to it. Whereas a man of evil -- upon seeing evil in someone else can't help but judge that person... for evil is compelled to judge itself.

The only true solution to that constant press of discontentment in your life is not to acquire more of what has proven powerless to please you, but to consciously detach yourself from that level of self that believes the path to contentment is paved by continually thinking about what is missing from your life.

Anyone who acts to deceive another has been deceived by a darkillusion that it's possible to steal from another without first having soldhis or her (own) soul for whatever may be their imagined profit.

You may be able to protect the things that you fear losing, whatever their nature, but the real cost of any action undertaken for the sake of fear is that, in the end, it is a fearful nature you have been moved to protect... Which means fear wins, and you lose.

The rush to judge some character flaw in another human being is one and the same as the speed with which the false self races to hide from itself a similar imperfection.

The more you talk about yourself, the less people want to hear.

The moment one thinks that he or she is anything other than a student of Life... for life this person's life possibilities are as good as over.

Any part of you that wants you to feel bad, angry, or sorry for yourself, including any thoughts or feelings it calls upon to help explain why you must ache, is the secret partner of the very pain it resists. This unholy negative nature exists for one reason only: to ensure that you continue contributing to the suffering it first creates, and then sustains with your unconscious consent.

Freedom from regret, hate, anxiety, and rage -- and making useless excuses for being compromised by these negative states -- begins as we stand in the light of this rescuing realization: unwanted moments, whatever their nature, do not cause the pain we find in them; rather, they serve to reveal a level of our consciousness already in pain, and looking for something to blame for it.

When it comes to the abiding qualities of a truly quiet mind, real inner strength, or a compassionate heart, what attracts and wins this grace isn't what we ask for -- or the urgency with which we make our supplication; only one thing here really counts... and that's what we're willing to give up in order to realize these timeless spiritual gifts.

How else can the Divine reveal where we have deceived ourselves about its Incorruptible Nature and our relationship with it other than by showing us -- in some unmistakable fashion -- the parts of ourselves that imagine themselves as full of Light when -- in truth -- they are but fleeting shadows seeking a moment's glory before the sun rises to reveal them as such.

Any conscious effort in life is always rewarded with increased consciousness.
