What is it, then, that balances? What is that which allows this nature -- this divided nature, this nature that works in opposites -- what is it that would permit it the peace it seeks? What is it that creates balance in a human being?
The only thing that really troubles us is that our attention doesn't belong to us. Presently, something calls for us and claims our attention. Every errant thought and feeling that passes through our psychic system commands that we attend to what it tells us to, and then tries to direct us to what we have to discover based on resistance to the moment produced by our misplaced attention...
Neither the intellect that analyzes (psychological) pain -- nor the negative emotions that glorify it -- can do one thing to change the pain they resist and embrace at the same time; their single task is to secretly strengthen the false sense of self that's derived from their actions.
Topics covered: If you respond to a truth that you have read or heard, it is because there is a corresponding part in you that is a reflection of that truth; Resistance comes before any negative reaction. The disturbance simply stirs the nature that resists it.
Topics covered: Everything that takes place in creation is the expression of a Divine principle; When engaging in physical exercise, there is an agreement to meet and go through resistance. There's only one way to stop being deceived by the empty promises of others -- including those produced from out of your own desires... And that is to know that nothing promised to you -- or by anyone -- has the power to "add one cubit to your stature."...
It is impossible to know the secret holiness of any moment, to realize its divine purpose -- let alone accept your role and responsibility in its appearance -- and resist what the light of that moment has come to reveal to you, about yourself, at the same time.
The past -- whatever its pain -- only exists in the present moment as a place of suffering due to an unconscious level of self that -- on its own -- first recalls that time and place of sorrow, and then resists the torment of its own conditioned memory.
Psychologically speaking, the pain & bane of our life is not just mistaking today's troubling event as proof of tomorrow's pain, but actually ensuring that it will be... by unconsciously resisting what is nothing more than a dark image generated by (our own) negative imagination.
Looking at life through the eyes of resistance is not unlike looking at our own reflection in a pool of troubled waters; everything gets distorted. In fact, when seeing our lives through the narrow bars of some unwanted state, nothing is the way we see it.
