Resistance to a condition only exacerbates it; Resistance is always a form of unconscious insistence before it appears; Cause and effect are not separate; Intertwined and overlapping fields of energy; Listening is learning to use your attention without direction; Every line in the field of thought belongs to the past; Something never stops talking to you about what it...
Until we stop trying, in vain, to fill the empty moments of our lives with all of the distractions we pursue to quell that ache, we will never see, let alone realize this same sense of emptiness -- that we now resist -- is full of Light, a Living Awareness that neither fears nor wants for anything outside of its own Native Wholeness.
The pain and stress of uncertainty persists in us not because uncertainty is some mandatory Reality but because there are parts of us that fear -- and therefore resist -- having an unknown future. Our "solution" is to unconsciously imagine a desirable secure time to come... an image whose unseen mirrored opposite is (by law) the uncertain self whose painful desires drive this dark cycle.
Tension is a part of creation itself; its boundless energy is a feature of every relationship in all worlds. The unknowing masses resist its manifestation, and wear themselves down trying, in vain, to escape it. But the Wise know how to use it... to remain aware of their part in a Divine awakening that is the fulfillment of Life.
The more we resist -- and suffer over -- any moment that proves we don't possess the strength we imagine ourselves as having -- the further removed we are from recognizing the real healing lesson these moments bring with them: the realization that the source of this suffering -- over our alleged "weakness" -- is the painful conclusion born of a false belief that we already know...

Where is my attention? Guy Finley explains why this is an important question. The resistance I feel when things don't go the way I want them to go isn't resistance to what's happening but to my unseen expectations of how I think things should be. Then my mind connects my attention to my body, and my body literally becomes a mirror of that internal conflict.
Part 1 You can neither control, nor change any anxious thought or emotion that rushes in and sweeps you off of your feet because this "I" -- this sense of yourself suddenly in a struggle to escape a psychological storm -- is itself a part of the squall it now so vigorously resists. Part 2 Every thought, a blockage. Every emotion, a limitation. Every movement, a hindrance to Thee.
The more you're willing to see that living within you is something that resists, resents, and rejects your wish to be self-aware at all times -- that wants only to be left alone with what it wants, regardless of the cost to you -- the more ruthless you'll become in your dealings with this dark nature, doing whatever it takes to free yourself from its grip.
A student wrote to me confused about an article I had written entitled: "How To Stop The World And Be Still." His words indicated that he initially felt relieved about not having to absolutely silence (his own) noisy mind because he had read that, "who and what we truly are is not the 'noise' we resist in ourselves." But then he went on to say that in fact he was quite certain that this noise...
We are created not to know ourselves by what we think about, but to know ourselves within God's ever-present, perfectly changing life. The challenge for us is that we are habituated to thinking about ourselves and deriving a sensation of ourselves based upon the images that we consider. What happens to us when we feel the blows in life? In those moments where Life is actually trying to bring...
