Key Lesson - Part 1: We always seem so willing to sacrifice ourselves in order to fulfill some desire, and yet it is almost unheard of for us to sacrifice a desire for the sake of our Self.

We live in an almost ceaseless servitude to a series of ideals that were created by desire. But once you awaken to the consciousness that creates an ideal, fails to live up to it, and then punishes you as a way to reconcile the pain of it, you can no longer act continue to act against yourself in the same way.

The fear of stepping up to life, of coming right out and asking it for what we want, ensures that not only won't we win our heart's desire, but fairly well guarantees -- for our obedience to negative doubt -- that we will never realize the peace of a quiet mind that has seen how life itself wants to grant wishes that are True.

The end of suffering is not found in the pursuit of freedom from suffering, but in realizing the divided nature of desire that imagines and identifies with a pain-free time or a place to come, only to imprison itself in a fear it may lose the heaven it has imagined.
