In this Saturday discussion Guy delves into the meaning of commitment, and explains that our pursuits in this life are not to arrive at what we imagine, but to expose who we truly are. This is the true commitment that requires sacrifice, and allows what is higher to answer the authentic need within.

There are no shortcuts to stillness. There is no trying to be empty; with almost no exception, effort is ambition... and though it is full of becoming, it is empty of Being. The darkness of (spiritual) emptiness is inseparable from the Light of awareness by whose grace we are given to see the unthinkable: it is impossible to fill ourselves.

No one is obligated to feel spiritual remorse; yet, “it is written” in the stars themselves that all must eventually pay for what they have done against themselves, or others. For Justice through Balance is the great Law, enforced by a tireless, unfailing Love... whose final consolation is a pure heart no longer capable of inflicting pain upon another, or itself.

The (spiritual) impetus to transcend our present level of self is granted in our first glimpse that what we really need is not a way to resolve, or outrun whatever punishes us... but rather to quietly -- consciously -- walk out of a dark and lower world inhabited by legions of self-limiting beliefs, including their offspring of worry, conflict, and fear.

During this crisis, it is physically necessary to be vigilant: to keep the prescribed social distance from others. But, along those same lines, there’s an even more important spiritual prescription for our well-being: (It is) to stay awake, and to distance ourselves -- consciously -- from any part of us that would have us serve fear, let alone suffer for its sake.

If we must fall in spiritual battle, let it not be fear that brings us to our knees, but for the failure of our strength. For any strength tested and found lacking in our hour of need is renewed and made greater. But, when fear is renewed, it is our weakness that increases, and we find ourselves having fallen faster and faster.

If we mistook the onboard activities of a luxury liner for being the same as the new country towards which we sail, and remained aboard upon making port, our loss would never be known. The same holds true whenever we mistake the limited world of thought, with its time-bound dreams, for being the same as the eternal kingdom of our spiritual potential.

What is the essence of great character if not the incontrovertible evidence that the pain of yesterday's blow is the seed of tomorrow's strength . . . if only we will agree in the moment of challenge?...

The Spiritual Secret of the Ages: We are forever looking for a "mirror" ­ a person, place, a thing to possess, even ideas or emotions ­ in which we can see and come to know ourselves, but we find only eventual grief and frustration in such searchings as these because it is impossible for us to find the self-wholeness that our heart longs for in any reflection.

The reward of any true spiritual intention is the revelation that same action serves to produce. The more we learn to "see" by this interior Light -- what was in the dark of us only moments before -- the more faith we have that our wish and work to know the Truth of ourselves is the same as its appearance within us. This is the Way...

If the Truth we profess to love isn't demonstrated by our actions moment-to-moment, day-by-day, then what those same actions demonstrate is the extent of hypocrisy in which we live. There is only one cure for this kind of spiritual self-delusion: The honesty to see ourselves as we are, followed by whatever personal sacrifice we must make to start "walking our talk."...

There is an invisible Law of reciprocity in all phases of spiritual development including those relationships that govern and contribute to the Soul's devolution. This Law states that whatever the nature of the spirit we grow into, so does that same spirit grow into us...the truth of which gives us all the more reason to stay awake to what kind of company we keep inwardly.
