Classroom Talk: 04/13/2025 - Awakening is the (graduated) process of negating all forms of identification; (it is) the realization that no matter how real the feel of any familiar sense of self - for its pleasure, or pain – nevertheless: no sensation does a “self” make, any more than a wave on the sea makes the sea from out of which it rises, and must return.

There are some things in this life -- in this world of passing time, governed as it is by the illusion of opposites -- that cannot grow up side-by-side; by their nature, the lion and the lamb never lay down together. So it is with love and self-pride, for love of self denies obedience... While love demands it.

The present moment is the door of perception -- and if, when you look through it, you see something you recognize -- or otherwise think you know -- then all you're really seeing is a reflection of your self upon the mirrored surface of the door. The true door of perception opens... only into the unknown.

No worldly acclaim or possession can ever make us feel whole, let alone free us from that irreconcilable fear that comes with feeling ourselves as apart from others, and from life itself. Only by consistent, persistent interior work to remain awake and watchful can we place ourselves in a conscious relationship with higher, eternal influences...under whose authority are we released, at once, f...

The pull we feel to fulfill ourselves through any repetitive action, like seeking approval, mindless distractions, or worriedly 'counting' our riches -- whatever these may be -- is one and the same as being pushed along by an unseen fear that can never be consoled by those things it drives us to chase after for its sake.

Unseen by the sleeping self that wanders along their ever-circling paths, all unconscious consideration of one's momentary condition is a treadmill powered by the movement of our yesterdays as they try to escape themselves... driven on, as they are, by the incessant semi-sweet dreams of a better tomorrow. This is the real meaning of 'doing time.'...

Part 1: Whatever we find outside (of) awareness itself... is not what we are looking for; our life experience keeps showing us this fact, but as yet, we can't see it! Part 2: Spiritually speaking -- actively resting in the unseen space between 'here' and 'there' -- is the Kingdom of all and everywhere.

If it were possible for the innumerable creations -- with which we inevitably become identified -- to speak to us, here's what we would hear them say: 'I am not what you're looking for, but I'll help you find it!' In the end, whatever we find outside the presence of awareness (itself) is not what we're looking for; and our own experience of life keeps 'telling' us this truth, but we haven't ye...

Unattended thoughts are thieves; not only do they sneak in and steal your attention in exchange for the thrilling, but fleeting sensations they provide, but then they turn around and sell you 'insurance:' more thoughts promising to protect you from the inevitable sense of loss that always comes with having identified with an illusion.

Just as the exploration of a new territory must precede the possibility of claiming the natural treasures uncovered there, this same principle holds true when it comes to the undiscovered country of our own consciousness: we must be willing to explore those still secret regions of our present nature if we ever hope to realize the extent of its limitless resources.
