End the Pain of Being Apart from Real Life

There is no truth apart from the unfolding moment of your own being. We have a natural longing to know this truth of ourselves, and must find it on our own - if someone else tells us, all we gain is hypocrisy.

What does it mean when an individual begins to transcend his life? In the movie, Shadowlands, C. S. Lewis is portrayed as a man deeply rooted in his intellectual center until he meets a woman who clearly is meant to develop his heart. The woman is terminally ill and his grief over her illness begins to interfere with his ability to simply enjoy the time they have left together, which prompts her to tell him to accept the happiness now as part of the pain to come. You can't separate pain from joy - if you want the latter you must suffer them both now.

Nature uses everything to perfect herself. But humans refuse what is given to them for their own perfection - when life gives us a new meaning, we reject it. Instead we apply the meaning and value we have from our own past content to what unfolds. Suffering has a meaning in it that we have yet to understand. We currently think it's inherent in life, but that isn't the case: suffering is actually inherent in what we experience life through - our fears, past failures, desires, etc. This causes us to remain apart from the unfolding of life in the moment - and as long as we continue to do so, we will also continue to suffer.
