We make exchanges every day. Some of them are easy to see. When we breathe, our bodies exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen. When we go to the store, we exchange money for a loaf of bread or a new pair of shoes.

But other kinds of more subtle exchanges are going on all the time that we may not be not aware of. For example, the exchange of emotional and subconscious energy between people, or the immense amount of exchange that happens between all of the plants and animals in nature.

We all know what it's like to come out on the raw end of an exchange... we overpay, we work hard for no reward, our love is rejected. It's sad, but true: When we are unaware that an exchange is taking place in any given moment (and exchange is taking place in every moment), chances are, we won't be happy with what we end up with.

But when we become conscious of these exchanges and make them with the help of intelligent awareness, something marvelous happens. We find that there is a way to live where we are never left with the short end. Every exchange can be for our benefit!
