Leave the Shallow Self for the Deeper Life

Truths are living things they have depth. Thoughts are shallow and easily move from one thing to another. The heart is just a word to us but it is not only a physical thing but it is a truth. We not only have a heart but so does every living thing, even a cell. It is not only a location but also a home for love. What occupies our heart when someone betrays us?

The story of a dolphin trapped in a tank - it can have the applause of the crowd but it never experiences the deep of the open ocean. We can't find anything deep in a shallow life. There is something in a human being that knows the pursuit of earthly things is shallow, to be acknowledge for good works, the pursuit of money etc. There is no mistaking the fact that something has us captive, that we are contained within something. We need to start caring about something different.

What would it take to shatter the bonds of our inward captivity? We reap what we sow. If we are angry, frightened, lonely, we suffer. If we no longer want to suffer, we need to take our lives back by beginning to sow new seeds.

Love is its own reason; it's not established by things. Our heart is not only physical but it also has the capacity for relationship and attention. We can escape our captivity by sowing new seeds.
