Let Higher Self-Understanding Start to Heal You

Why is it that we will take care of physical pains but seem to resign ourselves to psychological pains? Why don't we heal? There's nothing in life that doesn't heal - and in fact, most things are stronger for having gone through the healing process. But even though life is always setting us up for change and healing, we don't see it. Humans must be outside of the natural process of healing.

Healing begins from the inside out - but instead of attending to the "wound" we search for a cause outside of ourselves. This planet is full of people in pain and all anyone knows to do with their pain is to lash out at what they think is the source of the pain. In this way we try to mend ourselves based on the idea we have about the pain.

There are actually three elements to the healing process: there's the wound itself (passive), that which caused it (active), and that which will mend it (modifying). There's something in us that works as a reconciler but we don't allow it to serve its purpose. Instead we keep re-injuring the wound through constant reflection and re-visitation.

The mind uses thought in order to feel itself and is very susceptible to stimuli, such as facial expressions, tones, etc. The mind will convince us that it's logical to revisit old wounds - but it is in these moments that we must come awake to ourselves and realize that this is in fact the way in which we continue our pain. If we want to truly change we have to develop our self-doubt and begin to trust that we are not meant to heal ourselves. We must choose a different kind of pain - the healing pain of conscious suffering, which allows something higher to come in and allow true healing.
