Make Your Pain Disappear by Removing the 'I' From It

Part 1
The vast majority of humanity views the idea of spiritual rebirth as some sort of prize to be claimed and declared: a new and exciting personal possession, like having won a tropical island in a high-stakes lottery. But true rebirth is nothing of the kind; (it is) a distinct awareness within oneself of a timeless and intelligent awareness -- a fearless and abiding patience, burgeoning with expectation -- that is "in the world (of passing time), but not of it."

No solitary passing feeling about yourself is your True Self any more than a single raindrop is the whole of the ocean from out of which it comes.
Part 3
If you remove the "I" -- the sense of self that resists a condition because of identification with its opposite -- then negative states stripped of their reason to be -- cease to be, along with unwanted conditions that seem to produce them.
Exercise
R&R - Remove and Replace the old "I" with an awareness of "I Am." Anytime you feel a contraction of, for instance, indignation, disappointment, or even pride, notice the instantaneous surge of a strong sense of self that comes with it. Remember that this sensation comes from mechanical identification with a part of you that wants to lend you its existence. Anytime you agree that "I am angry", "I am worried", or "I am great" you have crushed the real "I Am." Use the "eraser" of higher awareness to remove the "I" -- not as an act of conquering that nature but in recognition that it doesn't exist without the "I" you have put in it. Replace it with your awareness that existence IS the very thing you are. Each time you are willing to sit "as I am" a new understanding becomes part of true spiritual rebirth, which over and over again exchanges your experience in the world of senses for what is eternal.
