There are literally thousands of names for the infinite ways in which truth finds ways to reveal itself through us on this physical level. Far more important than whatever these various practices may be called is the "quality" of the person through whom it is being practiced.
There are a thousand spiritual "nuts" out there for every one who may have a kernel of Truth in his or her soul, so one must be consciously wary...at the very least. Add to this fact the realization that we have multitudes of "I's" (within us) that want to believe something is being done to us by someone else -- so that we are healed without ever having to meet the self that suffers itself for nothing -- and you have a recipe for more and more of the unreal. The evidence here is overwhelming: with so much being done in the name of spirituality...why so few actually being reborn, made new? And unless authentic regeneration, i.e., awakening to the end of duality is the sole purpose for one's practice, one practices nothing but the unconscious continuation of the very self one wishes to change/escape.
As for the awakening memories, this is good and natural; so much lies buried in us. Our inability to consciously receive impressions -- and allow them to be reconciled (through conscious awareness) -- creates a constant psychic "waste" of a sort that then tries to sort itself out using the same level of mind that creates it in the first place.
The "key" here is to watch all that happens, whatever it's nature, and not to get caught up in wondering "what's happening to me?" Nothing is happening to the "self" that creates pictures of moments other than it is being further conditioned into believing that sensations of life, including excitement and all its counterparts, is the same as being spiritually awake, as knowing Real Life.
Lastly, and you must come to see the truth of this for yourself: real interior change is a sacred thing; it is not something to be discussed with others unless, for some reason, such conversation about oneself serves to illuminate the self that wants to be glorified. It's a general axiom that the more real change we go through, the less we need to talk about it, and the more we are content to know our relationship with the Light that's making these changes.
