Whenever we kneel to the temptation of some consoling indulgence, or struggle to acquire a power to protect us from a fear... we yield to, and serve the pleasure of a darkened desire that has promised, once again, to save us from (our) pain.

Rushing through anything is a sure sign that you neither understand what you're doing in the moment, nor the real reason why you are actually doing so.

Just as it is impossible to understand anything about the depth, breadth, and unimaginable power of the ocean while standing on one of its wave-washed shores... so is it impossible to realize anything about the true nature of Christ's life without actually entering into its Light.
