A rose doesn't "try" to be beautiful; it never struggles to win one's attention, or to prove its value. Any part of you -- pressing within, or upon you to make a favorable impression -- of any kind, for any reason -- is unnatural to your True Self.

Exercise

"Pull the mask off." In a moment of disturbance, bring your attention back to yourself. Instead of blaming or deflecting, see the whole of the moment -- "pull the mask off" inwardly speaking and realize that the fight you feel is not with something outside of you but with a nature in yourself. Once you understand you've been trying to win instead of trying to see, you will be able to walk out of the world of that lower nature and into a higher one.
