New Year's resolutions always revolve around wanting to keep the so-called "good" parts of what I call "me," and not-wanting what I call the "bad" parts.

If you want to have a new life, you cannot bring old wants along with you.

There is an innate longing to be in relationship with what cannot be expressed in words.

True spiritual teachings are not recognizable by the consciousness that has faith only in things seen. Things "seen" are the same as the "known."

If you are drawn to something, it is because you have a longing to be reunited with it. This is hinted at in the Prodigal Son parable, as well as in other stories like it. The Prodigal Son realized that he was actually never apart from that which called him home.

We are not here to be masters of the Universe. We are here to be mastered by that which put us here.

Run out of hope in things seen. Run out of hope in getting the things that you want which seem so necessary for your fulfillment, but that turn out to be the very bricks in the wall that you build between yourself and what you really long for.

Possibly the greatest thing that can happen to a genuine aspirant is to find themselves so helpless that there is nothing else to do other than work in their own garden.

It is a miracle when a man or a woman persists without desire. Those individuals will meet all of the limitations that stand between them and what they long for, because within the revelation of limitation is new potential.

The absence of something is as much the proof of that thing as is its presence.

Take one thing that you feel drawn to, and give yourself to it. Not to get something from it, but to discover something about the Divine and about yourself within it.

Life is not supposed to be "fair" in the way that you want it to be fair. We are not seeing the bigger picture. Life is always perfect justice because it always reveals each individual's responsibility, complicity and role in the bigger, whole picture that is unfolding.
