The next time you start to feel a disturbance, remember to "sensitize your attention." Choose in favor of "full spectrum sensitivity": See yourself seeing, feel yourself feeling, and sense yourself sensing. This is what it means to be in a living meditation; it is practicing the presence. At this level of awareness the observer and the observed are one. Presently there is always a ""thinker"" and what is seen. Instead of being seized by a uni-directional sensitivity -- in which the mind is seized by the promise of a solution to the disturbance that it sees -- reclaim your attention, and see that part of you that is never content. Remember that your real task is to sensitize yourself to the whole of the moment, to everything that is taking place. No thought can enter into this kind of true sensitivity without announcing itself and showing you its true character.
