The Gateway into God's Life

It is natural for a human being to long for harmony and peace, to wish for stillness, but the very act of seeking these things creates a disturbance. Can this paradox in one's soul be reconciled? The spectrum of light we see is just a small fraction of what there is. And just as there are degrees of light there are also degrees of sound. There are creatures that can hear ranges of frequencies that we don't. Our solar system and earth even have their own frequencies, and just because we don't hear or see these other dimensions doesn't mean they don't exist. Conflict is noise unheard by us but we can feel it. We are the instruments in which all things are working.

There was a woman in a city that couldn't find a way to bring the noise of her life to an end no matter what distractions she tried to implement. She longed to be at the outskirts of town by the woods. The closer she got the better she felt. Inside the woods lived the birds of heaven that sang the sweetest song. She started to have ears sensitive enough to hear them. But no matter how hard she tried she couldn't find them and the more she tried the more frustrated she became until she finally gave up and slumped down under a tree. When she opened her eyes, she could see one of the birds with rainbow wings and it wrapped itself around her and flew away. The only way she could see and hear the birds was to give up her pursuit of them.

Beauty is a glimpse of something that has a corresponding part inside of us. One sees through the eyes of their soul. It is corresponding consciousness. A reporter goes to see a scientist give a lecture at a museum about the Andes eagle. It was breath taking and the reporter asked the scientist how he knew so much about the world of this extraordinary eagle. The scientist said, "I lived there for 27 years studying this high mountain eagle."

If a person longs to have a life in God's life, they have to spend time there and dwell in it. God's life is now. It is not separate from us. It can't be approached through thought. The self that wants to know the present moment sits outside of it. One can't think what it is but one can be in it. The pursuit of Truth pushes it away. We are supposed to live in God's being. It has nothing to do with the past.

We have another quality (body) that longs for this relationship but it is asleep. There has to be a paring away, a withdrawing from what doesn't work to have a different order of oneself. "Be still and know that I am God". There is a body of stillness we are intended to live in that can experience the whole action of the spirit. We are created as receivers. In order to receive one has to be still. No stillness, no connection.

"The son of man does nothing except for what he sees the father do." All he did was watch, what his father did through him. We are intended to live this kind of life but we don't because of our willfulness. The sounds that disturb us are from the self that wants. We are meant to be absolute stillness. We still recognize and register what is going on inside of us. It is the silence that enables us to see and hear so we are not in wrong relationship with everything. Our attention not our reaction is the center of the heart of stillness. Stillness allows us to be in the moment but not of it as a sensitive human being. True sensitivity can't have a past. Only stillness hears and sees everything. Its existence disentangles the soul. Seeing and hearing all of the content of oneself puts everything in the proper order pulling oneself out of what doesn't belong to it.

Keep oneself where stillness is active. Stop being identified with thoughts and feelings, even when they say, "I want God" requires living from a completely different body. When it lives, I will not. Be still and know. No knower apart from what is still. No self is born in stillness. Reconcile only in God's will.
