There Is No Greater Gift
Nothing comes into existence that wasn't always, and already, a part of it. We can't "improve" awareness; neither can we refine compassion, nor strengthen kindness, or patience; the will to suffer oneself for the sake of another cannot be enhanced. We can only realize the presence of these heaven-born characters, and then work to return to their celestial realm, agreeing to instrument them to whatever extent we're willing--and able--to do so. These timeless forces are created to eternally harmonize their counterparts in creation, that through the revelation of their interaction--that we alone are gifted to witness--the greater Good that governs all things might be glorified in their ceaseless reconciliation.
The Promise of Everlasting Life
There is nothing greater to do with one's life than to make an offering of it.
In some ways, some days, this kind of sacrifice may feel as if it amounts to nothing, and to no end; but even that feeling must be given up, offered to the small flame of understanding that we are here, on earth, for a given purpose that we cannot know until, and as we fulfill it...much as the wick of a candle might experience the flame that fulfills the purpose of its existence.
The wick doesn't "die" as it fulfills its purpose; it disappears into its purpose for being; it is transformed into another order of existence...to serve yet another purpose, as unknowable as was the first. It can only give itself; that's what it is created to do. Its life is fashioned after the Christ, the Lamb of God...the eternal prototype of transubstantiation through sacrifice.
A great mystery, no doubt, but in even the least glimpse of such a possibility can be felt the promise of Life Everlasting.
