The One Path to the True Timeless Life (Blog)

The twofold nature of this world -- the fact that creation itself depends upon and expresses itself through duality -- means that all sentient creatures are subject to a kind of perpetual purgatory wherein no force exists without its opposite. Opposing forces are not just the stuff of all that is manifested, but run through it ceaselessly as well; they are the lifeblood of this level of existence.

In this world, no hope rises to the surface without fear working through its roots, appearing in its flowering; there is no stated tolerance without unspoken intolerance; no state of freedom without some unseen captivity waiting behind a curtain not yet drawn open.

Yet, as with all things dualistic, these "terrible twins" must draw their existence from something monistic: from the one uncreated Life that pours out all the forms that are an expression of its eternal unity, a Love that has no opposite. So that if, as stated in Ecclesiastes, our struggle in this ever-turning world that goes nowhere -- save round and round -- is "in vain," then one's awakening to this impossible struggle would be the same as dying to it... for who continues a work of any kind that contributes only to their captivity?

Seen in this light, although certainly made no less a burden for its revelation, this present state of purgatory is but one aspect of our own infinite consciousness; a level of being one must pass through upon the journey to oneness with the Divine Light. This self-knowledge, the true metanoia that spells the end of the meaningless rounds of life, is the new direction; it is the path and the continuing perfection of Christ's life, where living is dying, and dying is rebirth; no longer opposites in time, but one timeless Life.
