Develop a new understanding of pain. Reacting out of impatience, complaining about your situation, or trying to control circumstances and people in your life is the same as resisting the pain you feel in those moments. Work to remember that you are never in the wrong place, but are instead in a wrong relationship with what is taking place within you. No circumstance can be any different than it is in the moment that you get there. Your experience of life in any given moment, including those moments in which there is pain, is the accumulation of everything you have ever been and done. Instead of saying "Oh, No!" to the appearance of pain, begin to meet the pain with an inward "Hello," which is an awareness of it. Don't try to change the pain that is revealed... change your relationship to it. Pain appears asking for your attention, and healing lives where the pain announces the need for it.
