Shocking as it may be, it's true: the God we place above all others is the one around whom the majority of our thoughts and feelings revolve, which means we spend most of our time in the unseen worship of ourselves -- in the unconscious adoration of equally unconscious parts of us -- that not only know nothing about the Divine, but that don't want to... for fear of being overthrown and cast out.
