If we ever want to have Real Life, we must look at life AS IT IS. If we were willing to do this, we would be shocked at the abject misery of our fellow human beings. Now, we see only what we want to see that sustains our image of who we are and what we need. However, the truth is that we live in a world of walking wounded. And yet, we still use people to escape our pain, and for personal gain.
Let what is right in front of you show itself to you. Human beings are casualties of a world in which there is a war on Love. If we do not want to remain a casualty of this war, we must be willing to examine ourselves. There is a certain "comfort" in justifying all the reasons we have for remaining a casualty. This war is a war of attrition, in other words, not an outright assault, but rather a gradual chipping away. But, there is great hope where there is Light.
Light is our friend, because it illuminates all the darkness inside of us. Love cannot die because it is uncreated. But the love in us can die, if we allow it to be so. Where are we to find true love? We can be provided for by a completely different kind of provision. The ultimate security and happiness is being provided for by Light. A "storm" can come and take away everything we have provided for ourselves. We can be provided for in the moment, which makes clear what we don't need to live with, like fear, anxiety, worry, etc. In our heart dwells true love. We can know in the moment that we have everything that we could possibly need, right now.
What we love is what shapes our lives. We give ourselves to what we love. When we consider how we spend most of our time every day - not wanting what life is giving us, not wanting what we are, or considering how things could be better or different - we are forced to conclude that, since we give ourselves so completely to the consideration of these things, this is what we love! We "love" negativity, but don't know it.
We are, in effect, giving ourselves over to something that does not exist. (Does what you are not exist?) In the constant consideration of the negative, our lives and the possibility of ever knowing Love has been taken from us. If we don't see what our life shows we love, how can we expect to change? The whole idea of what I am not, and what I don't have is a lie. We have been deceived, and the Deceiver is inside our mind. See that we have been "deceived from the inside out."
If we can become conscious of the onset of that negative spirit that wants our life, that is the beginning of the end for that spirit. Then, we can begin to reconnect with what we really want to love. Any justification of darkness is an act of darkness. Darkness descends and then directs us to do something in accord with its will.
Recollect and Reconnect Exercise:
Disconnect - Disconnect from the dark negativity, the Lie. Then we can
Recollect - Bring yourself back to what you know is true, what you really love. Refuse to make a friend of fear.
Reconnect - Reconnect with Love as best you can. At first, just see what isn't Love
Recollection of the Good IS the reconnection with it. Light dismisses darkness. Then, Love can come into the heart and we can be a vessel for God's use. This takes a conscious choice on our part.
