This is How Simple the True Spiritual Life Is

There is always a wrestling match going on in your mind. Human beings are an admixture of all elements of the universe. This titanic struggle going on is often a contest of no account at all.

We realize, "I'm anxious, angry, rushing. I want happiness."

What else is there in this universe but to possess my own heart and mind?  Part of a spiritual life is to see that what I do of an earthly nature doesn't do one thing for me. What troubles my earthly nature doesn't trouble my spirit. The one thing I must do is to wrestle with my soul. What do I have if nothing can help me in the moment of self-torment?

There is no moment apart from this one. Every moment is the seed and the fruit. We're waiting for a moment in the future when we will be free.

Awareness is the wrestling match. Let the Light fight for you. As soon as I think about myself, I lose possession of myself.

I presently am as kind to others as they are to me. If only me is in my mind, how can love flourish?

Stay with the nature that does not run. There is no place to run to. If you daydream all day long, you will have rude awakenings. Our pain is so great that we fall asleep. When I'm rushing or in a daydream, I am in time. Awareness is something that is trying to possess me.

The wrestling match is staying in the moment with all the forces. Watch it go on. When you act out what you know is true, you're in with a new will.
