The Cause and the Cost of Freedom

What we are willing to pay, to give up for the sake of being free all depends on how aware we are of how painful is our sense of captivity; of feeling like a prisoner in a world we cannot see. And more so, what justification can there be for this sense of confinement when - by and large - most of us have the freedom to live and move about as we will? There is none; such pain is inexplicable which makes it all the more confounding.

And so it goes, and has always gone in this strange world: those who are mostly content with their lot in life...are content; they cannot understand those who are not. And those who are not content for reasons they can't understand, can't fathom how others go on - day after day - not just oblivious to their captivity, but content to spend their time decorating the walls of the prison in which they live.
