- "We shall not cease from exploration, And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started, And to know that place for the first time." -- T. S. Eliot
- A paradox is understood when seemingly irreconcilable opposites are seen as complimentary.
- One question that we never ask ourselves: "If I do something that I regret, why does it seem like that action was the only choice in that moment?"
- When we take actions that we later regret, we are caught up in something that we believe is 'I', and we never question whether or not that will is our own. Would we consciously choose with our own will to hurt ourselves or others?
- We are rarely aware of the pain. Rather, our attention is taken by whatever the pain points to in order to resolve the conflict it feels.
- The desire of the moment is always looking to protect and complete itself.
- What we call "free will" is some form of a reaction that is inseparable from what feels threatened in that moment.
- No matter how much you acquire, it will never be enough because desire itself is insatiable.
- The deeper purpose hidden in the 10 Commandments is to reveal the desire-nature that we presently serve.
- When it becomes clear to you that something is choosing for you, then you will have a different relationship with that nature.
- "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you." -- New Testament -- What we want to "come out from" is the legion of 'I's that we presently identify with.
- We cannot set ourselves free, and yet pretty much all we think about is how to set ourselves free. The mind is always trying to figure out how to free itself from what it has created.
- Desire hides itself behind the temptation to become something in a time to come in order to find completion.
- We sit in judgment of others because it gives the desire-nature the sense of self that it needs for its own continuity.
- Make it your aim to NOT be whatever the desire-nature tempts you to do and become according it its will. Stop being the unconscious instrument of that will.
- Agree to be what you are made to be. Agree to do what you are meant to do. Share in the peace of perfect accord. Perfect accord is a nature that seeks nothing outside of itself in order to be whole.
- "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." -- New Testament
