We would never wish such challenges upon ourselves, let alone those we love and hold dear; and yet, even these most dreaded moments in one's life can help all of us better realize our true need for God in our lives... something we all too easily forget.

As for whether or not to tell your wife about the prognosis, you must respect her wishes... even though you sense it might make her remaining days more fruitful were she to know how few days are left; besides, there is always the chance that she might have a dark reaction to this news - curl up and give up -- submit to denial -- and not even have a few "sunny" days to share with her family, etc.

That being said, watch her closely. Listen closely to her words. Should you see a moment where she seems open and willing to embrace what God has planned for her, then you could explore the possibility of discussing with her what little time she has left on earth. You'll see, one way or the other, these things have a way of working themselves out, so be patient.

As best you are able to remember yourself through the trial ahead, do remember that many of God's greatest gifts often seem, at first, unbearable to receive.
