All of life is predicated on exchange, but we see unwanted moments as painful punishments to be avoided. They are meant to be a reminder to exchange our present level of being for something higher.
Instead of suffering uselessly over the revelation of a weakness or ugliness in yourself, be willing to make the exchange. Accepting the revelation results in a new understanding of yourself. Instead of suffering uselessly, suffer for something other than yourself. There is peace in suffering for what you know is good and true.
