How many of us sometimes entertain thoughts and feelings that get us into trouble? We have all found ourselves compromised by thoughts and feelings that hurt us, but the truth is that nothing has access to our heart or mind without us inviting it into our life. When negative states knock on our psychological door, we cannot get into bad relationships with them unless we go outside of ourselves...

Closing our eyes to where we may be in the wrong in that moment of any strained relationship does not make what is wrong within us any less of a burden to bear, but it does ensure that wherever we go we will find ourselves "bumping" into others and, for our pride-induced blindness, continuing to blame them for what we have refused to see.

Our work, in terms of reclaiming our right as human beings to be in relationship with what we choose to be in relationship with, begins with being able to see that we suffer because choices are made for us. And it's an unnecessary suffering.

Any time we pretend to be something we're not, we do so out of fear that without that "persona" to protect us we won't get what we want.
