Student Talks: 07/10/2026 - The only way we will ever know that death is an invisible doorway into another level of being – Higher or lower, depending – is if we do the interior work – here and now – of dying to an unconscious nature whose “will to live” – we’ve mistaken as being the same as our own.
Just as the wise captain of a sailboat knows that a dead calm often precedes a new set of winds to fill his sails, so can the aspirant who is patient in the face of a growing emptiness be assured that a whole new order of fullness is on its way.
There is only one path that leads to a relationship with what is holy, and therefore perfectly complete... And that is to see -- without flinching, and finally without regret -- that all of the (seemingly attractive) paths through this life always end right where they began: in a too-familiar, but terrible, sense of emptiness.
While experience may serve as the path to self-knowledge, still it remains the lesser half of the path to self knowing.
