We resist not what we see as being fearful, but rather what fear sees whenever we look at our life through its eyes. And the reason this fearful nature trembles, as it does, resisting its own dark vision, is so that it can feel unsuited to meet the very situation that it has imagined.

No unwanted, painful condition in life can be separated from the parts of us that resist its appearance... anymore than what we see in a mirror can exist without what's being reflected within it!...

The 'devil' on earth is nothing more, or less... than the manifestation of human ignorance in its lowest, most abased expression; (it is) a petty and unconscious level of 'self' that enlarges itself by gorging itself on the stimulating sensations that it creates as it identifies with its own unbridled (negative) imagination.

All of our imagined hopes and plans for the promising pleasures of "tomorrow" are crafted by the parts of us determined to keep us from seeing what we're being given to see about ourselves in each and every present moment.
