Here is a great unseen Law: never ask someone to do for you what you haven't first struggled with, mightily, to do for yourself... For in adherence to this Law not only will you be open and willing to admit your present set of limitations, but you will also be forever grateful to whoever steps forward to help you see how to transcend them.
Contrary to popular opinion -- as concerns being around someone who has just set us off: the real task before us is not to try to change him or her, or take control of the unwanted moment. Rather (it is) to use the awareness of our own negative reaction to help us realize we need to change the kind of person we are.
It isn't your moment... unless you like doing time; real Life is a single movement. Whatever stirs you is a portion of the dance; whatever you hear is a single line from a verse or song with neither beginning nor end. Even these hints about heaven have already moved along. Creation is unceasing, so don't linger; for whatever seems to be here... isn't.
Everything moves in ITS time, as are we intended to within that same movement. Learning what it means to be in this accord with Life, doing what it gives us (to do and to be) in the moment appointed is our path, gradually leading us to a kind of perfection without pride even as it fulfills our purpose at the same time.
The reason he's able to be present, quietly aware of and attentive to the movement of his own thoughts and feelings, is because he's not trying to go somewhere, get something, or become someone "special." He is without tension because he sees that identifying with whatever the flavor of desire may be in the moment is the same as allowing fear to pull him apart.
The psychological weight of any pressing moment is the same as whatever level of importance is assigned to it by an unconscious part of us; this lower level of self looks for any situation where it can add "a cubit to its stature" by first imagining some unmanageable burden into existence so that then... it can feel itself struggling to carry its own impossible load!...
There is no greater mystery than love...and how it works its invisible ways in and upon the human heart. None may escape its deft effect; even those who deny its existence would have nothing to refute were it not for the presence of this all-encompassing tenderness from whose touch; fearing its embrace; they run to their own destruction.
Untouched, uncorrupted by what once was, and yet unfolding from it; as does a tender new flower from its stem; comes forth the ever-present moment. The future, unknown, rests within what is; but the more this story is told; toiled over, and overlaid by a mind unseeing the way it spins its own captivity; the more imperfect becomes the perfect present, a prison of the...
The more we wrestle in our mind with some weakness we wish weren't in us, the stronger that weakness becomes. Here's how it works: thinking about a weakness dilutes seeing it for what it is; and the more we allow our false nature to dilute the truth of what's seen, for instance, that we haven't the strength we imagine we do, the stronger becomes that weakness.
My 20-year old daughter died six weeks ago. I understand that grief is a process. I don't want it to take the best of me, but I know it's important to let it run its course. Any words of advice are appreciated.
In this world we are seized by desires that affirm the illusion of the opposites wherein, from out of their appearance, is born a separate sense of self that feels it must possess what is desired, or "die". In the spiritual world there is a holy desire; but being seized by it leads to the abnegation of identification; because what holiness desires is atonement: the end of the false sense of se...
Regardless of how we want to believe otherwise, no-matter how subtle may be our justification for the same, we can't put the cares of this world first...and expect to be cared for by a Higher World at the same time. It's a faultless Law, and none can escape its perfect justice: whatever we put second in our life...places us second in its life as well.
