ED: Hello. I'm Dr. Ellen Dickstein, and I'm here with inner life author, Guy Finley. We're going to be talking about letting go of negative states. Guy, I was thinking about this topic today and I actually had to laugh, because I thought you'd never expect to hear two people talking about letting go of a hot pot handle. There seems to be a wisdom of the body that knows if something is causing...
I have tried to think that I am okay and don't need to change, and that the rest of the world is crazy. Yet, I do use TV, reading, etc. as a distraction from the suffering and pain of my reactions to life -- to my worry, anxiety, fear, and anger. You've said that we can't fix this self that the suffering creates and tries to fix at the same time, and that we need to let God see our suffering.
You can be self-enlightened instead of self-frightened. You have a choice. This discovery that you can always choose in favor of yourself is real excitement. You do not have to accept your present life-level. Life-level is what determines whether you sail through this life or sink in it. At present, it may seem to you as if there are times when you don't have much choice in your own life. I want you to know that this is a lie...
It is not in our power to change anyone else. On the other hand, our experience always brings us to this moment of truth where we have the possibility of changing what happens to us. And so it follows that the person to whom and in whom the Truth begins to become a living force, cannot have a bad day or a bad relationship.
Question: In this time of economic downturn, is there anything to say to those of us who have experienced losing a job or a home? I don't know what to say to my friends and coworkers who are suffering. It's easy to tell them that the universe will provide and that something better will come along when I'm not the one in their position. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
What causes disputes between human beings? What is this business of "what I believe" vs. "what you believe"? Can we see that you cannot separate what you believe in from what you want? When I say, "I believe in this," and "I believe that you should be like that," what I'm really saying is that I insist you be what I believe you should be, because if you don't, we have war...
Do we not try to escape the stress we have by further imagining ways to relieve ourselves from the circumstances held responsible for it? And the more we do to create for ourselves an enclave in which we will no longer be confronted with the trouble, the more we isolate ourselves, and the greater the problem becomes because we increasingly resist anything not part of what we've..."
Putting our life in God's hands does not mean that we hand Him our wish list for life, but rather that we make His life our wish. When God's will becomes our sole wish in life, then whatever happens to us not only fulfills our wish, but we realize it has always been our wish right from the start.

If you are engaged in an interior dialogue with yourself, you are not listening to Divine guidance. In this short talk, Guy talks about keeping it simple. The higher answer to the pain of difficult moments is to see the consciousness that is responsible for the pain, not in struggling to change all of the exterior conditions that are blamed as the reason for the suffering.
We must stop trying to change the world we see, and begin the inner work of changing the way in which we see the world.
Higher inner awareness grants you patience and new forms of consideration, because now you realize just how much pain everyone is really in.
To break out of any prison you must first find a way that works. Here are a dozen new actions that have special powers to show you this needed Way.
