To think of joyful days past as the path to happiness makes sense only if we believe that the best way to satisfy our thirst is to study water!...

The real reason we stress ourselves over the way others behave -- and are so quick to judge them for their irritating behavior -- is as follows: by blaming others for how we feel in the moment then our negative state is always the fault of someone else.

Seen properly, the speed with which we move to judge others -- and the pain that pushes us at to that conclusion -- proves the presence and the pressure of those parts within us that want to avoid seeing their similarity at all costs.

Any friendship based on a relationship that is "already understood" is less a friendship than it is an unstated agreement that things should change between those involved only when and if mutually agreed upon. But real friendship is no such contract; it's a mutual consent between the parties involved to share in love's never ending encouragement to outgrow whatever limits the growth of the soul.
