The depth to which we see something is directly proportionate to the consciousness that is attending to what is being presented in the moment. As we are now our lives are very superficial. But we're meant to be in relationship with life at a much deeper level.

Plants in nature are created to be heliotropic, which makes it possible for them to receive the greatest amount of life-giving light that is possible. We could say that flowers, grasses and trees keep their "attention" on the sun for as long as they can. We on the other hand, are currently not heliotropic. We are self-tropic. Why is it so fulfilling to just sit and watch a child playing, or a dog running, or some other creature having a good time? The answer is because it's all part of our consciousness. We're not actually separate from what we are seeing, and to miss that understanding is to miss being part of the whole of that consciousness.

We can't have a true need without there existing that which is intended to fulfill it. But we have to allow the need to be there, wait, and watch the part of us that attempts to resolve the need with its own will. Then we discover that the resolution to any question we might have is within the question itself.

There is no "self" without relationship. In reality, the observer and the observed do not exist apart from one another. There are unique challenges for the human being who wants to have a relationship with the source of his or her being. We try to control events outside of us in a futile attempt to find a fearless life, when our energy would be better spent attending to our inner lives. Our eyes see what they do through a reflection of what the light itself reveals. The light sees the reflection of itself. Everything is a reflection of the Divine, and our role is to be the instrument through which revelation can take place.

Heaven is understood through its reflection on this Earth. It is a mistake to imagine that we can directly understand the Divine's plan with the thinking mind. Even if we have a good understanding of spiritual principles, the thought is not the heavenly principle itself. Whatever we are feeling in any given moment is a reflection of a principle that we can be in relationship with.
