One of the greatest gifts that a man or woman can be given in this world (and only if they ask properly) is to understand that everything that happens to them - no matter what -- is for their greater good. It makes no difference what it is -- call it the worst thing in the world -- and most of us have had the experience of recognizing there were times when if we could have thrown away that moment full of fear, anger, resentment, we would have thrown it away.
But then, by a kind of grace, although unable at first to see the higher lesson in it -- due to the illusion of time -- our eyes begin to open and we see the unthinkable: the very moment we feared, and tried to avoid, turns out to be the seed of our freedom. And if you really understand this seed of truth is inherent in everything, you begin to be a human being who welcomes (as best you're able to do) those moments that seem to be full of fear or doubt or worry. Because you start to understand, if you look closely enough, somewhere inside of that moment there is the seed of something that will set you free from the part of you that fears.
Then life literally becomes fearless living. Not that you don't have fear -- that's a complete misunderstanding on the part of people who want to be spiritual. No. Then everything that brings a fearful moment is the same as revealing the consciousness in which that fear lives because of what it is attached to and dependent upon. And every moment that shows you that is inviting you toward a kind of liberation that you could never experience as long as you were clinging to the things that you thought made you fearless. Because in the end, it's the things that you think make you fearless that are the very source of the fear that you have.
