Classroom Talk: 01/25/2026 - The end of suffering is not found in the pursuit of freedom from suffering, but in seeing through the very nature of desire that generates the suffering to begin with. The problem is not what we desire, but rather our unseen identification with desire itself, and the endless cycle of conflict it creates.

Remastered Classic Talk: 1/18/17 - Action without knowledge is reckless at best, and is almost always dangerous to everyone involved. Knowledge without action is useless at best, and guarantees that the individual who is "inclined to recline" will remain in the realm of the sleeping intellect.

Classroom Talk: 01/18/2026 - Most of us live an accidental life...where our actual condition is constantly covered up by the convenience of being able to regret whatever we look back on as the source of our pain. But let’s be clear. Our list of painful regrets is not due to a cruel world, bad timing, or unfortunate events that got the better of us; no, the fault lies elsewhere, much closer to home: not only are we blind to the legion of unconscious parts at large in the dark of us, but we are yet to see the other half of this same truth: these same parts never stop working to ensure that we never stop wrestling with the regrets they keep resurrecting within us. To what end, this painful plot? That we never become conscious of the relationship between a life we regret, and our identification with a lower level of consciousness that ensures its continuation.

Remastered Classic Talk: 11/25/15 - 

Part 1: If it is our wish to touch what is whole, to be touched by what is holy... then we must stop "reaching" (for it) and start being the seeing that is already the whole of us.

Part 2: We cannot "make" things whole any more than the moon makes itself full by its own light. Rather our work is to serve as a witness to life's ceaseless, concurrent appearance of fullness and emptiness and, by so doing, to unite (within us) the awareness of Timeless consciousness with the experience of its own creations living in time.

Classroom Talk: 01/11/2026 - Given time, whatever degree of dependency we help to create in others will eventually prove itself a prison of our own making…For there is no form of psychological dependency that doesn't make a captive of whoever may be involved in that relationship…including the one w ho unknowingly initiated it.

Remastered Classic Talk: 11/4/15 - Here is the obvious, but rarely acknowledged reason why we must dig in and do the difficult inner work needed for real self-transformation: if we don't change, we gradually come to wholly embody the very weaknesses whose destructive nature we wish weren't (living) within us. The courage to see the truth of this inevitable outcome gives us the reason, the will and the courage we need to succeed in our quest to regain command over our own heart, mind, and soul.

Classroom Talk: 01/04/2026 - Revelation is not a product of time, rather (it is) the sudden appearance of an impersonal, timeless awareness within us. These “ah-ha” moments do not provide intellectual answers; rather they provide, by grace, a glimpse of a higher order of awareness whose peace is inseparable the Divine intelligence it permeates.  
 

Remastered Classic Talk: 12/2/15 - 

Part 1: Awakening to the presence of some weak, or otherwise painful character at large within us marks the beginning of the end of its command over us.

Part 2: The longer one is able to observe oneself -- all parts of oneself, unadorned -- the less interest one has in being identified with any of these (separate) parts while, at the same time, the more willingly does one commit to do the inner work it takes to witness them.

Classroom Talk: 12/28/2025 - We do not become prisoners because we fail to escape some painful pattern. We become prisoners because we imagine there is a “someone” inside the pattern who must escape it. In truth, the sense of self that feels trapped is a creation of an unconscious nature struggling to escape the experience of itself. Once realized that the suffering inherent in this conflict is not yours…it no longer needs to be transcended; it's released without effort because it simply has no one left to belong to.

Remastered Classic Talk: 12/28/16 - In this world we are seized by desires that affirm the illusion of the opposites wherein, from out of their appearance, is born a separate sense of self that feels it must possess what is desired, or "die". In the spiritual world there is a holy desire; but being seized by it leads to the abnegation of identification; because what holiness desires is atonement: the end of the false sense of self created by unconsciously identifying with any opposite.

Classroom Talk: 12/21/2025 - Awakening is the sudden, and often quite shocking realization that what we had taken to be the whole of our life…isn’t, any more than you can see the whole of a starry night through a skylight. 

Remastered Classic Talk: 12/21/16 - The Kingdom of Heaven -- the True Self for which we seek -- dwells within us, and above us at the same time. To sense this as true, even in the smallest way, is an invitation and an instruction, all at once. For not only must we know "where" these Divine forces meet and marry within us, but that we must also develop the attention we need to be able to stand "there"...in the midst of their eternal convergence.
