In this excerpt from a recent classroom talk, Guy talks about how agreeing to live with fear, worry, anxiety, depression -- or any other negative state -- is the same as living in the "dread zone," a psychological state of useless suffering that prevents us from being alive and aware in the present moment.

In this short talk, Guy talks about how there is no fear of the future when we live in the present moment, where everything that we need is being given to us.

In this answer to a webinar attendee's question, Guy explains that trying to prepare and rehearse what we are going to say or do in a moment is the same as living in fear of the moment. Instead what we need to do is make the intention to see everything that we can so that we can leave those moments as wiser, more awake human beings.

There is a higher relationship that has nothing to do with anything personal at all. It is the realization of the existence of strength, of majestic beauty, of power... and that realization is inseparable from the consciousness in which it appears. And that consciousness isn't personal. It belongs to what is Divine in a human being and it is a gift of the Divine.

Question: "Two years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm doing better now but how can I let go of the fear of waiting for the other shoe to drop?" When we try to avoid or manipulate a moment in order to just get through it, we will meet that same moment again because we are the same. We cannot separate the moment we don't want from the level of consciousness that fears it. Seeing this is the same as realizing that the fear, though we may feel its presence, is not the power that it claims to be.

We are always in school. Our lives are intended to be dedicated to self-study, which would mean that we are always present to ourselves. Being a student in the true school of life means that our studies are instantly applicable to our lives.

Plants in nature are created to be heliotropic, which makes it possible for them to receive the greatest amount of life-giving light that is possible. We could say that flowers, grasses and trees keep their "attention" on the sun for as long as they can. We on the other hand, are currently not heliotropic. We are self-tropic. We can't have a true need without there existing that which is intended to fulfill it. But we have to allow the need to be there, wait, and watch the part of us that attempts to resolve the need with its own will. Then we discover that the resolution to any question we might have is within the question itself.

Heaven is understood through its reflection on this Earth. It is a mistake to imagine that we can directly understand the Divine's plan with the thinking mind. Even if we have a good understanding of spiritual principles, the thought is not the heavenly principle itself. Whatever we are feeling in any given moment is a reflection of a principle that we can be in relationship with.
