Human beings are a unique creation in the cosmic scheme of things. Unlike the untold billions of other life forms teaming on the Earth -- whose nature is an open and shut case -- human nature is not fixed. What does this mean to you? Only everything!
The tiger can't choose to live above the jungle floor any more than a shark can decide to soar through blue skies. The tiger, horse, bird, and shark, must live where they do because of what they are. Their nature determines their life.
But your nature is not fixed. You do have the freedom to choose the kind of world you call your own. Why spend your life in a steamy jungle of roaring thoughts, or in a dark valley filled with sad and worried emotions when, by choosing higher, you can live happier?
What very few men and women ever come to realize, spiritually speaking, is that life is a ceaseless series of inner choices about where they want to live. And even though we may not fully understand the nature of these choices, or why they must be made, to not choose is to lose. Here's why.
The complete range of life-level possibilities, from the conflict-filled jungle floor to the serene mountaintop, all exist right within our own uninvestigated nature. And to not choose the upward path through this life is to resign ourselves to the laws of gravity -- which always choose in favor of their own nature: down.
Your life is meant to be an upward journey, and if you want to grow inwardly, you must find new ways to learn the truth about yourself and your life. You don't have to remain on any level not of your choosing. You can change your life experiences by walking away from any of those unwanted worlds within you that create your unpleasant days.
Begin right now by aligning yourself with just three of the many higher spiritual laws that can help lift you to the next life level.
Don't be afraid to see when something doesn't work.
Learn to be sensitive and to listen to the inner signals that try and tell you when something isn't working. You know what they are -- frustration, regret, and resentment to name just a few. The presence of these emotional troubles isn't trying to tell you that you can't succeed, only that the road you've insisted upon taking so far doesn't lead where you want. Learning to admit when something isn't working is the same as teaching yourself what will.
On the other side of the resistance is the flow.
Those moments -- when it feels as though you're least able to get beyond yourself -- are not telling you that you've gone as far as you can go, but only reveal that you've reached as far as you know -- for now. This higher self-knowledge about your true inner position allows you to see the resistance you're feeling for what it really is: a threshold, and not a closed door. Walk through it. Nothing can stop you. On the other side of the resistance is the flow. Learning to go beyond you is the same as entering into the new.
Learn to see conclusions as limitations.
If you approach the possibilities of learning about your life as being limitless, which they are, then it follows that any conclusion you reach about yourself must be an unseen limitation. Why? Because there's always more to see.
To experience the miracle of real inner transformation, to step up to a superior life level, you must no longer think in terms of how you'll be "next time." It is imperative to meet each moment of your life with this realization: it's only what you do right now that is the seed of change. The greatest power you possess for succeeding in life is your understanding that life gives you a fresh start any moment you choose to start fresh. Nothing that stood in your way even a heartbeat before stands there now in the same way. It's all new, even if you can't yet see it that way. You've only to test the truth of this fact about the newness of life to discover the incredible freedom that waits for you just behind it. Choose to be new and then nothing can stop you. You'll know the real secret and the perfect power of starting over.
