The whole idea of turning straw into gold is connected to using any unwanted moment to gain a whole new level of understanding and to connect to a higher level of consciousness that is not afraid of the moment.

What we call "talking to ourselves" is really the action of a consciousness that produces negative assumptions, and then plots how to bring an end to the very storm that it is seeding. We can't stop that level of mind from creating storms, but seeing them changes our relationship to that consciousness, and then we don't unconsciously reseed them. They appear and then disappear. The problem is the consciousness that looks out at the world; The world is in the mess that it is in because everyone in the world is trying to fix the mess; The antidote is in the venom. The real release from fear doesn't exist outside of the understanding that we are already free, but deceived.

Our new and highest possibilities can only be found at a point in time when, and where our efforts to transcend our present set of possibilities have been expired. Here’s why: It’s what we do when we come to the end of all that we know how to do that determines whether or not we realize a new order of understanding that waits for us just on the other side of the known.

It is impossible to let go of any painful thought or troubling feeling until we see the parts of us that are secretly clinging to it.
