Question: Many men seem to have a fear of intimacy and difficulty connecting with their depth of feeling. Women seem to miss intimacy in their partnerships with men. I wonder if there is this kind of difference in men and women's spiritual yearning? I bet you could create a special seminar for men on how to connect more deeply with their feelings.
It seems that my relationships with people are so dissatisfying lacking true mutual consideration, kindness, sensitivity, interest, etc. Everyone seems so self-absorbed that I've just about given up on reaching out. And the long-term relationships I've established seem to have each eventually disintegrated into habitual unhappiness or resentment. What higher understanding would help me look a...
"Response is request"..."We live in a Universe that's friendly"..."Everything that happens to us, we asked for it"... they are all ideas you speak about that I have no problem assimilating... However, ours is a terrible world. Millions of human beings suffer in countries ravaged by famine, disease, and poverty. It seems that almost two thirds of the world's population does not live under the r...
I have long been investigating my personal career goals and see how they contradict what I really love and wish to do. I have been guilty of pursuing money first , but after years of feeling like I haven't really succeeded (despite aiming for seemingly better circumstances), I see I am no better off financially. In fact, I have less comfort and material possessions and more debt. What steps do...
My sister died yesterday, but the weeks preceding her death were filled with some horrific incidents involving choices her husband made (refusing her pain meds, chastising her for not trying hard enough, not letting anyone help her, keeping family members out). Needless to say the entire thing was way more painful for everyone than it could have been. We do feel that now that we know who is re...
Where is the line between "not having an issue with anything" as you spoke of in The Genesis of Love, and enabling or allowing? Issues like verbal and physical aggression, mobbing, abuse of any kind, denigration, somebody "acting out"... For example, where would India be without Ghandi standing up to the British Empire? Would Love have had an issue with the British Empire? I don't understand w...
I've heard this maxim again and again: that you'll repeat an experience until you no longer need it or resist it. Yet I know of more than one person who left a boss, spouse, or friend because they were fed up with the relationship. None of them claim they grew in wisdom or grace or some other form of enlightenment. They claim the only thing that changed was that they woke up to the fact they w...
I have a problem that I just can't seem to shake: I can't seem to be faithful. I know it's wrong, but I just don't learn my lesson no matter how many times others, including myself, have been hurt. I'm so full of regret. I'm lost, disenfranchised, and have only hurt others and drawn them away from the light as well. I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing on this earth but know for certain...
I am convinced that I was somehow "urged" to pick up "The Secret of Letting Go." It was all so simple, yet to me it was absolutely profound. Since then, I have listened to many of your talks. I began trying to meditate, and over the years life slowly began to open up before my eyes.... Naturally, there is still much growing to be done, but thanks to your work and others like you, I have experi...
I have struggled with anxiety and fear all my life. I have taken medication for this for over 20 years. I have been to therapy and I am in the Work every day. One of my major goals has been to get off medication completely and since accomplishing that, there have been some very, very tough days and nights -- bouts of insomnia and days of pain and irritability that have challenged me to the hil...
While playing golf, I recognize how influenced I have programmed myself to be when people are around me... whether they are watching me or not! My mantra today while playing was: "This shot is for me and no one else." I understand how I've been giving my power away. When I'm in the correct state, I am only aware of the shot and not the people around me. Caring too much is poison. I'm starting...
My wife died three years ago, I live alone, and I and was recently diagnosed with cancer. I think I have come to terms with the prognosis, but for some reason my anxiety and depression get worse every day. I wake each morning with utter dread of the day ahead -- this horrible feeling of having no escape from the awful fear and despair. Sometimes I feel so close to madness; it's as if the false...
