Student Q&A With Guy
You have several opportunities to ask your questions of Guy directly and hear his eye-opening, often surprising answers.
Topics covered: "You keep looking in the wrong places for what you are hoping to find when you get there in a time to come; The condition that we see is not responsible for the conflict that we feel; When reality challenges what we have imagined conditions should be, so that we can be who we think we have to be, we fall into conflict and suffering."
Topics covered: "This world does not treasure the truth. The world treasures approval from others. It treasures appearances; There is another kind of development that is possible for you -- that the world knows nothing about -- in which it is possible for you to discover another order of being that alrady dwells within you."
Topics covered: Your work is meant to bring you to the point where instead of taking comfort in your own explanations for your suffering, you realize that that suffering belongs to a world within you that is always planning how to escape itself through thought: The only way a person changes is when they have finally seen through all of the ways in which their mind consults itself and comforts itself in an attempt to control their life.
Topics covered: Your body is a kind of temple with cornerstones that belong to your mind, heart, body, and the awareness of those three, for the purpose of holding right ideas together; Your lives are too scattered, not because the world is scattered, but because your mind is divided; Your work is about discovering how empty the opposites of “want” and “not want” are when they’re not together. Nothing can really change until you begin to...
Topics covered: "The events that we don't want must return. Above our present understanding is the fact that everything that transpires is the expression of another order of being that is responsible for reconciling the moment; The root of all true teachings, the true basis of religion, is "metanoia," which is the capacity to turn around and experience a completely new order of relationship with life."
Topics covered: "Part of the miracle of true beauty is that you are not separate from it when you see and experience it; We see our mind's explanations of what is taking place. As such, we do not see the whole; Each center belongs to yet another center. Whatever the center is of the moment, it cannot be personal. But for us presently, everything is taken personally."
Topics covered: "We would not be interested in true interior Work unless somehow, on a daily basis, we lived with an unrequited Love. The capacity to know this Love is already seeded within us; The consciousness that we call "Christ" is the light that dwells within the darkness that the darkness cannot comprehend. The Christ is a living awareness."
Topics covered: "Two words that often go before us in any painful moment are "I want."; There is a direct relationship between your experience of the moment, and what it is that you are giving your attention to; We are identified with the very condition that we are trying to escape, which creates the very experience that we don't want."
Topics covered: "You do not see at all, but you think you see. You are identified with every thought that passes by, and the sense of self that comes with it; Anything that you imagine, and then identify with, has no life in it at all; It is impossible to have a lingering negative reaction unless, in the moment of the reaction, you have met a moment like that before."
Topics covered: "Perfect freedom belongs to a nature that nothing can touch, therefore it has no fear of being tied down; Your mind as it is lives in a constant state of imagination; The same nature that lives in hell creates a heaven for itself. Being lost in imagination of a time to come is hell."
Topics covered: "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." -- New Testament; Nothing in nature grows in a straight line. There is no straight line because there is always a creative force is acting upon the new creation. The force of creation, nor the creation that it is acting upon, are ever the same; The negative states that seem to come out of nowhere will tell you the reasons for their appearance, which always includes some form of "I'm innocent, you're guilty." Negative reactions will tell you why you are the way you are.
Topics covered: If we all wore t-shirts that described our inner lives, they would say "Out of Order: Proceed with Caution;" The great unspoken assumption behind all of our unrest is the certainty that what is happening should not be happening; Everyone and everything challenges the order that we have established. And anything or anyone that is out of order must be put back into order so that all will be well again, in a time to come.
