Part 1

Any time the mind makes a “package” out of some unwanted moment -- wrapping its reaction (to it) in familiar troubled thoughts, and negative feelings -- it does so at the cost of exchanging a priceless gift it’s been given... in favor of giving itself another painful experience (of itself) that it doesn’t know it’s created for itself!

Part 2

Psychological resistance collapses the unlimited field of new possibilities into a single, momentary event that is not only unwanted, but that is seen -- and experienced -- as something separate -- other than -- the unconscious mind that creates what it then resists.

No condition, in and of itself, is ever the cause of psychological stress, fear, or regret; suffering of this kind is inherent in an unseen, unconscious level of ‘self’ that resists changing conditions because it is incapable of changing with them.

Part 1

Any action we take initiated by resisting some unwanted moment ensures the continuation of an unconscious, deeply conflicted nature so asleep to itself that it can't tell the difference between struggling to escape a prison, and not walking into one in the first place.

Part 2

There is no resistance without identification. There is no identification without desire. So that desire, identification, and resistance, are secretly bound together in much the same way as are a match, a striker, and the flame that's born of their interaction.

Part 3

There is no end to resistance, but we can realize the lesson hidden in it, and in so doing end the pain born of being unconsciously identified with it.

When the truth is seen,

Why wait to see?

No real lesson in life becomes our understanding until we realize that each unwanted experience in life serves as a secret reflection of an undetected interior imbalance within us. These lessons exist -- and are brought about -- to help strengthen, and temper the character of our soul.

Part 1

We can't hope to change what comes out of any given moment until we change the one within whom it appears.

Part 2

The task is not to be perfect as imagined, an illusion supported by the pain of unrelenting self-judgment; rather the real task is to do the interior work of seeing ourselves as perfectly as we can regardless of how much we would rather not.

Part 3

We are, and will remain who -- and what -- we don't want to be until we realize that we no longer need to suffer being that "person."

Part 1

No peace appears outside of, or apart from the disturbance that conceals it, and no disturbance appears outside of, or apart from the peace that reveals it. They are inseparable celestial characters, each surrendering itself to become the other... in a ceaseless, seamless Divine act of creation.

Part 2

We don’t see what is; we only see in parts because in any given moment, only parts of us see.

Part 3

We are already within, actually a part of the peace we seek, but we can’t see the forest for the me that wants to control, or otherwise own it.

Part 4

Whenever the mind, asleep to itself, imagines any kind of peace to come... In that same moment it creates -- within itself -- the inevitable appearance of whatever will be the next condition blamed for disturbing it.

In much the same way as a mirror reflects whatever object is brought before it, so our consciousness reflects -- and realizes -- the character or quality of whatever is revealed within it.

Part 1

The consistency of any painful, negative reaction to some person or event doesn't prove -- as we imagine it does -- that the “guilty” party remains unchanged as “charged.” Rather, what it does show -- at the very least -- is that it is we who are unchanged: an unwitting captive of being unconsciously identified with our own negative reaction.

Part 2

No reaction can resolve the moment it sees -- let alone blames -- for what amounts to it not wanting the experience of itself.

Part 3

It's impossible to free myself from any negative reaction by identifying with another reaction... of any kind.



Part 4

No reaction is a choice, and neither is any choice made from a reaction capable of changing the unconscious nature that gives rise to it. Again: a reaction is not a choice.

The real reason life feels like it’s so full of hard choices that we have to make is because, in our spiritual sleep -- and in the dreams we dream therein -- we stand between a self-created “rock and a hard place”: a perpetual captive of the unconscious conflict born of struggling -- in vain -- to protect what we first imagined we must have to be free... from its unseen opposite: an equally imagined fear... that we might lose it.

Part 1

In REAL life there are no "tracks" to follow, but thought runs along the tracks of memory, and memory always departs from, and returns to the same station: the PAST. This explains why it seems we never arrive at the higher station in life called “True Freedom”... because real freedom is not in time.

Part 2

Whatever remains unexplored and unknown in ourselves is stronger than we are.

Part 1

You can't learn how to be; it's impossible. But you can see through the futility of the endless struggle to make yourself (feel) real. So, yes: it's hard to die to the hope that some time yet to come holds the key, but it does get easier the more you realize that whatever freedom you’ve imagined... doesn't exist without the fear that it doesn't.

Part 2

There are no words for "Being." All words are conditional creatures trapped in time, whereas Being is a timeless, unconditional creative action; it is not a result, and never imagines -- let alone struggles -- to arrive at one.

Part 3

Resistance to unwanted moments -- including any struggle we have with its stressful appearance -- is inseparable from an unseen insistence of ours that gives rise to its pain.
