Spiritual surrender is the result of understanding that what God has given, he asks for it back; not to take from us (our) life, but to give it more abundantly. In this Way, He polishes, perfects, and renews our life, so that it might better reflect, and reveal it as having always has been His Own.

There is no ambition in God’s love; it wants for nothing because it lacks nothing. It doesn’t seek, so it is never frustrated with what comes to it. It has no motive, and so it is always innocent. This is a Peace that passes all understanding because it is the source of a Wisdom with neither beginning, nor ending.

In any peace we name -- imagine, pursue and then struggle to protect -- lurks a fear that stalks those who dream they can possess what is beyond imagination.

Part 2

Before we can hope to enter into the Peace of the Divine Life that dwells within us, we must learn how to search for it in the Light Place.

Whenever we put ourselves on the side of what we know is true, then the truth takes our side, lending us what his noble, needful, and Divine. Truth sees to it that we are strengthened by wisdom, sheltered by light, and that our soul knows -- moment-to-moment the peace of realizing its highest possibility.

When we know we can’t put out fire by feeding it more wood, then why don’t we see the futility of trying to calm a mind enflamed by its own thinking... by adding more thoughts to it?

Part 1

We are not only complacent in cultivating the imperfections inherent in our divided nature, but increasingly -- individually and culturally -- we glorify these very weaknesses that, by grace, are revealed for what they are: stumbling blocks to the soul’s development.

Part 2

The weakness of a tree in the forest soon becomes the strength of the soil from out of which it grew, and into which it returns.

Part 1

Nothing we blame for the pain of our anger, anxiety, or fear can ever change their real cause. The true source of our suffering -- individually and collectively -- is an unconscious nature that invents its own enemies, and then suffers in the futile attempt to conquer them... something it can never do, just as it's impossible for a shadow to overcome sunlight.

Part 2

In the end -- meaning the true beginning of a new life -- however the Divine awakens us to realize its timeless, indwelling light, it always shares one thing in common: the sudden appearance of a new understanding of our relationship to the whole of life, like the sunrise revealing a world that was always there, only hidden in the dark.

Part 3

The moment you awaken from a bad dream, that world is gone. The moment you awaken from how you have misunderstood life, so too disappears the suffering -- the anger, blame, and fears -- caused by that misunderstanding.

All anxious resistance to what "might be" is the avoidance of what is.

Sensation is but an echo -- a shadow cast by the Real. It belongs to life, yet it is not Life itself. Mistaking sensation for Life... is like mistaking a shadow for the sun whose light lends it form, and from which it has been cast.

Part 1

There's no such thing as having a bad day, only our (present) inability to see the Good in it.

Part 2

Only Love heals. All other ambitions -- to free ourselves, to secure some form of imagined peace -- are the work of an unseen, deeply-conflicted level of self, forever searching for, but never finding what only Love can grant: wholeness.

Doing the right thing, in the right way, begins with seeing the right order of things. All of life's lessons point us toward this simple, celestial truth. Through the pain of missteps and mistakes, we are gradually awakened to discover what has always been right before our eyes: whenever things are out of order within us, our choices and actions must follow -- and sorrow is the inevitable result.

Part 1

The perfection of each and every moment is realized by seeing each and every moment perfectly.

Part 2

Every excuse we make for why we are negative binds us to the same lower level of “self” that first resists an unwanted moment, and then insists the fault lies anywhere else but with itself. Said otherwise, excuses are a way of kicking the conflict we feel down the road because hidden in each excuse is conviction that we’re a victim of a condition that we will -- in a time to come -- find a way to control, or otherwise escape.

Part 3

The Divine knows we are ready to see the true solution to our suffering only when -- and as-- we realize we must no longer make excuses for any moment when, and where we miss the Mark.

Part 4

As above, so below: every creature struggles with, and through its moment of birth. So too must we who seek a New Life agree to enter into this Timeless crucible.

Calling on anxious thoughts to check the rising tide of some fearful feeling is like trying to stop a landslide by throwing rocks at it!
